MISSION

Flint City Church is for Jesus.

"You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God."  To this, Jesus responds, "Upon this I will build my church."

We preach Jesus.  Boldly and without apology.  We do what we do and are who we are because of what Jesus did and what He is doing.

Flint City Church is for Flint.

Flint, MI is considered one of the most dangerous cities in America.  It is a city that can't seem to catch a break.  As businesses and people continue to flee the city, we are going into it.  We live here.  We work here.  We play here.  We believe that God can raise the dead, even dead cities.

Flint City Church is for the Kingdom.

We live here.  In our neighborhoods and our schools.  But as a Jesus follower, we know that we are citizens of another land.  And we are learning how to be citizens of THAT place even while living in THIS place.  We are learning a new way to be human.  We are following the Jesus path.  We are disciples of His.  And as we follow, His Kingdom comes.

BELIEFS

The Bible is a God-breathed word that is the basis for all life and practice (2 Timothy 3:16)

All people are created in the image of God and worth loving (Genesis 1:27).  That image has been forever broken due to the power of sin, and condemns humanity to eteranl hell (Romans 3:23, 6:23).

There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4).  God exists eternally in Three Persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  1+1+1=1 (John 14:6, Matthew 3:16-17).

Jesus Christ walked around in a real place during real history.  He was born of a virgin and conceived by the Holy Spirit, making Him fully human and fully divine (Matthew 1:23).  Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for the sin of man by dying on the cross (Hebrews 4:14-16, Colossians 2:13-14).  Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-5).  Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven (Mark 16:19).

Salvation comes by grace (free gift) through faith (loving trust) in the finished work of Jesus Christ upon the cross (Ephesians 2:1-10).  Christ died in the place of condemned sinners (Romans 4:25).  The follower of Jesus confesses with their mouth and believes in their heart that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9).

The Holy Spirit is fully and completely God.  The Spirit indwells the redeemed sinner and convicts of sin (John 16:8), gives men gifts (1 Corinthians 12:7), brings people into God's family (Romans 8:15-16), and seals us unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13-14).

The Church is the global family of God (Ephesians 4:5).  The local church is a geographic expression of the global reality (Galatians 1:2).  The Church exists to make disciples  (Matthew 28:19).  Baptism is a choice made by a Jesus follower to publicly show their allegiance to Jesus (Acts 8:26-39).  Communion is a symbolic act of remembrance and expectation taken by the followers of Jesus (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Jesus will return to claim HIs church (John 14:3).  Upon His return, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord (Philippians 2:10).  When Christ returns, sin will be no more.  Satan, the great enemy, will be cast down.  And the redeemed will be in Christ's forever kingdom.  We will finally be home (Revelation 21:1-5).
